The grain-free alternative to kibble, Sojos Grain-Free Dog Food Mix (formerly known as Sojos Europa) is a wholesome pre-mix that you combine with meat and water to create a fresh, homemade dog food.  Sojos Grain-Free works great for dogs with sensitivities to grains, and also as a great fruit and vegetable supplement to our other mixes.

When mixed with meat and water, 1 lb. of SOJOS GRAIN-FREE makes approximately 7 lbs. of fresh, raw dog food.

Ingredients:

Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Broccoli, Celery, Apples, Whole Egg, Flax Meal, Parsley Leaf, Calcium Carbonate, Carob Powder, Kelp Powder, Alfalfa, Ginger Root, Garlic
Guaranteed Analysis: Crude protein 14.7% min., crude fat 6.5% min., crude fiber 15.4% max., moisture 7.0% max.

Why Sojos dog food?

Dogs by nature are healthiest on fresh, whole foods. Sojos Grain-Free Dog Food Mix is made with simple, honest ingredients like dried sweet potatoes, whole eggs, and apples. No preservatives. Nothing artificial. And because Sojos Grain-Free is made with no grains, it’s great for sensitive dogs. Simply soak it in water and add raw beef, turkey, or chicken. It’s a great way to give your dog a fresh, home-prepared meal in minutes. Sojos Grain-Free is also a great fruit & veggie supplement to our other diets.

Feeding Instructions:

Combine Sojos, meat, and water. Let soak in refrigerator (preferably overnight) and serve. You can mix a four-day batch ahead of time and refrigerate in a sealed container or keep larger batches in the freezer. Shake bag occasionally to keep ingredients mixed. For adult and geriatric dogs we recommend once-a-day feeding. For puppies we recommend twice-a-day feeding. (For twice-a-day feeding, split the amounts below in half.) Measurements are listed in cups.

These amounts are only general guidelines. Individual requirements will vary depending upon various factors such as metabolism, daily activity, health, genetics, and environment.

Starting Out:

It is crucial to start your dog on Sojos gradually. We recommend at least a two-week transition (4-6 weeks for older, sick, or finicky dogs). Start with just a pinch of Sojos, meat, and water added to the food you’re currently using and gradually increase each day as you decrease your pet’s old food.

Adding Variety:

We believe variety is an essential part of a dog's diet, and thus encourage adding veggies and other healthy foods, in addition to meat. Try mixing in a teaspoon of chopped greens, carrots, or other natural foods such as cooked rice, yogurt, or eggs. Avoid citrus fruits, onions, and spicy foods. For dogs with special dietary needs, consult a holistic veterinarian.

Sojos Commonly Asked Questions & Helpful Tips

Q: Is homemade pet food expensive and hard to make?

A: No. Preparation can take a couple of minutes a day. The results are well worth the small time required. Sojos has no fillers so it lasts much longer than other pet foods. When you consider the price per feeding, it's a great value.

Q: Can I feed Sojos Grain-Free without adding meat?

A: This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. You must follow the feeding instructions and add the proper amount of meat for this food to be used for daily feeding.

Q: What if my dog has allergies?

A: Because Sojos isn’t processed into a pellet or sprayed with synthetic additives (which can burden the body with toxicity), your pet shouldn’t experience allergic reactions like they might with traditional commercial pet foods.

Q: Will my dog gain or lose weight on Sojos?

A: When feeding a raw diet your dog may lose a little fat, which is normal, and then over time gain it back in muscle. If you want to keep weight on, soak the mix overnight, or try using meat with a higher fat content. Avocados and alfalfa powder also promote weight gain.

Q: Is this food too soft to clean my dog’s teeth?

A: Dry dog food does not clean teeth. That would be like a person eating potato chips to clean their teeth. Your dog’s teeth are cleaned by a strong immune system and healthy, plaque-fighting saliva, which is the result of a healthy diet.

Q: Do I need to add a supplement to this food?

A: Unlike Sojos, traditional pet food is cooked, thus robbing it of naturally-occurring nutrients. Still, we encourage supplements to boost nutrition for sick, pregnant, or geriatric dogs, puppies, or even healthy dogs. Adding raw vegetables to our mix is a great way to provide natural supplementation.

Q: Can dogs really eat raw meat?

A: Your dog’s digestive system was designed to handle raw meat. After all, wild or zoo animals don’t eat cooked meat. We’ve been using raw meat for close to 20 years with fantastic results. Buy healthy selections of meat, always refrigerate or freeze, and follow recommended safe handling instructions on meat packaging. If you are still concerned, you can rinse meat in a solution of grapefruit seed extract or human-grade hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. If you prefer to cook the meat, add a general nutritional supplement or veggies to compensate for the nutrients lost to cooking. The important thing is to do what makes you feel comfortable.
