APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Derived from organically grown apples which contain the \"mother of vinegar\". Around since 400 BC as an antibacterial & anti-fungal that gives the immune system a good boost. It rematerializes the body and helps normalize the dogs pH balance.

BEET PULP

A quality fiber and also a food source for essential good bacteria in a pet's gut. These good bacteria thrive and crowd out the bad bacteria that cause diarrhea and vomiting. Beet pulp also gently cleans the intestinal wall, allowing more nutrients to be absorbed. If beet pulp is not used, very often mucus builds up on the intestinal wall which inhibits nutrient absorption. About every 30-days so much has built up, it lets go and comes out in the form of mucus covered stools. Some state that excess amounts of beet pulp artificially reduces stool size. We include only optimum amounts that provide the stated benefits.

BLUE GREEN ALGAE

The original member of the plant kingdom, and still the most complete and easily digested plant due to the absence of cell walls. Blue Green Algae is rich in protein, GLA and chlorophyll, which are known to have many health benefits for the immune system.

BREWERS YEAST

An important, natural source of B vitamins. It contains 16 amino acids, 14 minerals, and 17 vitamins. It has no relationship to yeast overgrowth.

BROWN RICE

Highly digestible; vets recommend it for pets with digestive upsets. This is the same boxed rice you see at the market, except we buy the broken pieces that mothers don't want to see in the box. It is not pre-processed, and is ground fresh by us.

CHICKEN / DEBONED CHICKEN

Chicken is the clean combination of skin and flesh without the bone derived from whole chickens. This is the same deboned chicken we eat and is free of added growth hormones and steroids.

CHICKEN FAT

A quality source of Omega 6 fatty acids. Our fat is pure and clear and originates in USDA plants processing chickens for our dinner table.

CHICKEN MEAL

Once cooked, all of the fat and water are released, creating a concentrated, highly-digestible protein and fat source. Our cat food uses low-ash chicken meal as to control mineral levels that contribute to proper urinary health.

CLA

A protein derived from milk. This is an important nutrient for overweight animals. CLA allows less calories to be stored as fat, leaving more available for immediate energy needs.

HUMAN GRADE WHOLE-EGG

Comes from a farm producing product for human use. Some brands use broken eggs, or yolks and whites which are later recombined. The AAFCO definition for this is 'Dried Egg Product' and the term is forced on all pet food makers, even though some brands, like Health Extension, use whole egg.

KELP / ATLANTIC KELP

Serves as an aid to a healthy coat�it can prevent coat thinning and discoloration. Our kelp, harvested from clean, cold ocean waters, is a natural, highly bioavailable source of 60 sequestered nutrients. It also benefits the immune system, and helps to prevent infertility and premature aging.

L-CARNITINE

Structurally similar to B-vitamins. Although the canine can manufacture this nutrient, it requires adequate levels of the amino acids methionine and lysine, as well as vitamin B-6 and C to be present for this to occur. L-Carnitine helps to prevent obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

MILK THISTLE

Comes from a liver-specific plant extract. This plant improves bile flow (eliminating wastes from the body) and loading the liver cells with antioxidants, protecting them from chemical and free-radical damage.

OATMEAL

New star of the health food industry. It is an excellent source of quality fiber. The veterinary dermatology group recommends using oatmeal on dogs with skin allergies, both as a shampoo and in the diet. Our human grade oatmeal is non-GMO, has not been irradiated, and contains no processing, chemical, nutritional or medicinal additives.

OMEGA-3 AND OMEGA-6

Fatty acids that aid in developing and maintaining good hair coat and healthy skin. They can reduce skin inflammation caused by mosquito bites and skin abrasions. For decades, research has shown that Omega-6 fatty acid (such as the chicken fat used in Health Extension) aids in maintaining healthy skin and hair coat.
Research indicates that Omega-6: Omega-3 ratios should be between 5:1 to 10:1. Health Extension formulas fall well within these ranges.

YUCCA SCHIDIGERA EXTRACT

Naturally derived from Yucca Schidigera, a plant native to desert regions. Selected extracts provide several benefits, including reduction of stool and urine odor, and improved digestion.
